What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Player feedback from Early Access will be essential for creating a polished game. Multiplayer will also needs a lot of playtesting before I can be confident about a real release. Since the game is being solo developed, having feedback from many different people who play the game is very useful.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“1-2 Years”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include additional areas to explore, more bosses and bounties, as well as new lifestyle mechanics such as playable musical instruments and farming. There will also be more clothing and equipment as well as collectible stances to customize your character with. A skill system is also planned for the final version, where the player can learn new abilities and strengthen stats by defeating enemies. Snow areas will also be included in the final version, either through seasons changing or by heading north towards snowy mountains.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version currently includes a handcrafted open world map with 4 diverse biomes (grasslands, pine forests, mossy forests, and swamps) as well as lakes, rivers, and creeks running through them. Small farming villages are scattered around with interactable villagers. The player can accept various jobs and bounties for money and fame. The bounty system in Early Access will include procedurally generated bounty enemies the player can hunt down, as well as boss enemies that appear in certain locations when the player reaches a fame threshold. Defeating these bosses will allow the player to proceed. Only one main boss is included in the Early Access, but more are planned for the final release. In addition to bounties, the player can accept duels with other Ronin where fame and money are wagered. Both bounties and duels will include real online players to enhance and create a feeling of an online open world. Other mechanics in the Early access include fishing, hunting, and bug catching, as well as a basic survival system based on hunger.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No”

About This Game

The samurai were proud warriors who were devoted to their jobs: to cut down their foes. As the Tokugawa Era began, Japan returned to a state of peace and the samurai found themselves jobless. They became drifters who travelled from place to place, tossed around like a wave. These men were called rōnin.

Play as a wandering rōnin travelling across the Japanese countryside in search of a purpose. Reclaim your lost glory and become a legend.
