What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Heat Death is a deckbuilding game focused on replayability, strategic variety and depth. Such games are known to benefit significantly from early access, not only because the feedback of the community is useful, but also because frequent updates can be fun for the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The early access is expected to last approximately 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan for early access is to focus on adding more content, such as more enemy types, cards and planets. Game balance is also a priority, where the goal of game balance is to create high replay value with large strategic variety and depth. There will also be time spent on polishing, such as further improving the UI/UX and sound design.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version currently features a large amount of content:
- 5 planets (planets are playable characters) and almost 500 cards, as well as the unique combining/upgrading mechanic which allows cards to be fused into each other.
- More than 30 different 'Tech', which provide passive bonuses and synergies.
- 7 bossfights, and more than 30 other enemy types.
- Two game modes
- An original soundtrack
- Good UI/UX design and a basic tutorial
- 'Cheats and challenges' to change up the gameplay”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is very close to completion, and therefore the current price is not likely to change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I want to hear feedback from the community in all aspects of the game. The community's opinions and suggestions will be considered when making balance changes and when creating new content. Bug reports are also important, and I try to fix bugs on the same day that they are reported. Additionally, seeing how users read and interact with the UI will help me to identify areas which need to be improved.”

About This Game

This ancient galaxy is under attack by the mysterious "Apparitions". They are huge star-like monstrosities which threaten to consume the world. Your planet is controlled using cards which you collect while playing. Creativity and resourcefulness will be the keys to your victory!

Rewrite your cards!

Improve your deck even further by re-writing your cards! The game's unique crafting system is used to fuse cards into each other, allowing you to create insane synergies that feel like cheating. And yet, even with such powerful tools on your side, the enemy still puts up a fight!

Heat Death is in early access, but is almost ready for release - with 5 Planets, nearly 500 cards, and a crazy amount of depth and replayability.

  • The Human planet can swarm its opponents with drones, play defensively by buffing its allies, or stand on its own with versatile weapons and defenses.
  • The Radioactive planet focuses on fierce bursts of nuclear damage, and lays traps which detonate when opponents make their attack.
  • 'Storm' is a desert planet which can recover from almost any attack with its powerful heals and repairs, while steadily growing stronger with every passing turn.
  • 'Ablaze' is a volcanic planet, dishing out vast elemental damage while protecting itself in a veil of ash.
  • 'Sanguine' is a planet of witchcraft. A Sigils and blood moons forebode the end of its enemies.

The game world consists of procedurally generated maps of stars and clusters. Death is permanent – you start from scratch each play session, but you expand your knowledge and unlock higher tiers of difficulties. The powerful deckbuilding and card crafting in Heat Death allows you to explore new strategies with every new attempt. And if you still want more, then there are also cheats and challenges, to make the game even crazier.
