What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We had a great experience doing Early Access with our previous game, Aground - incrementally adding content and getting feedback to improve the game before our full launch. Our goal is to involve the community to expand and build upon the game, polishing it until it shines.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It depends on how much feedback and how many changes we end up making to the game, but I'm expecting it to be in Early Access for around a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In addition to minor improvements and quality of life changes, we want to expand the questline for the surface from the early access version, add the ending to the game, and allow the player to build a spaceship. We are also considering plans for being able to use that spaceship to travel to the moon or other planets (I think a moon base would be really cool, especially since you couldn't travel to the moon in the original Aground). We would also consider adding a magic path and bosses based on player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of the game currently lets you build an underground base (as in the demo), and expand upwards. You can complete quests, meet the Professor and the Scavenger, explore the subways, build vehicles and eventually reach the surface. This is the core of the game, but as explained above, we want to add more to the surface area and questlines, a strong ending, and building a spaceship.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may raise the price when we leave Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be listening to feedback and discussing the game's development and potential features in the Steam Discussions and our .”

About This Game

Good morning! I am PAI - your Personal AI - and I am here to assist you!

I apologize for awakening you early, but you have slept through the end of the world!

But don't panic, I am here to help! With me and your trusty protosuit, you'll be able to mine ores and build an underground base to live in!

There might not be sunshine down here, but at least you're not alone. I've located several other survivors you can wake up and bring to your newly constructed base!

But, if you want to reach the surface, you'll have to do more than just survive. You'll need to:

Expand and automate your base...

Get help from familiar faces...

And, I don't want to alarm you, but I'm detecting creatures down here that are definitely NOT native to Earth!

While I might not be programmed to deal with post-apocalyptic scenarios, I'm certain humanity is safe in my capable hands. With a little help from you of course!

Aground Zero is a 3D spinoff of our previous game, Aground. It takes place during the same events of the original game, although knowledge of Aground is not necessary to play.

NOTE: Only one player can use the keyboard and mouse for local co-op - every other player (supports up to four) must have a separate controller (but all four can use controllers if desired).
