What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

PROTOCOL: CHILDREN OF WAR is starting off as an Early Access title to obtain community feedback and valuable revenue to help build and shape the development of this game. I am designing PROTOCOL for myself and close friends as well as gamers who enjoy FPS games. Lots of games out there today by these big companies simply don't listen to the daily gamer. I want to make sure Task Force Gaming hits the mark and is fun.

PROTOCOL will get finished regardless of the revenue generated from Early Access, making this available here will allow me to accelerate development with a higher level of detail to the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“18 to 24 months. The goal is to really take the time to reward those who help with Early Access while refining a better game for those who only want to play a finished game. Lots of things to consider while being an independent developer, to include all the problems I could possibly face.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Right now the main features of the game are done. During Early Access, I want to do a complete overhaul of assets due to be an independent developer, this requires additional revenue as well as animation upgrades for both first person and third person. Ranking system will also be refined as more and more players play the game. Additional content - gear, characters, weapons and the map will be added. Future updates will be driven by players of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A solid work-in-progress with playable experience that gives you the feel for the game and where it is headed. Right now there are enough weapons with customizable options to give you options along with PUN2 backing which provides a smooth lag free base for multiplayer.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Early Access will cost less than the full release. Final pricing is yet to be determined.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to continue discussing ideas and features with the community via forums, official Discord server and other media. Players during Early Access will be encouraged to report feedback via the in-game Report Option menu with some simple questions to help ensure everyone's voice is heard. Lots of players are very quiet about what they feel when playing a game, and this will be an easy anonymous report to help feed what I need to know for fixes and future builds.”
