Why Early Access?

“I am sure, you can clearly see, I need a logo designer :). Primarily I need to get as many people testing the game at the same time as possible. Steam is excellent for that. Steam is going to be the primary multiplayer platform, therefore I need to get that part going as fast as possible.
I need people to try this game breaking new concept, that I am developing and I want to know, if it's going to be worth anyone's while and get anybody's attention. I have thoughts about adding elements of traditional fighting games like Mortal Kombat into the game as well.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is very early in development, but as you can see, many aspects of the game are already "done". Those parts are the foundation of the networking part, chatsystem, inventory, questing and many others. These elements are so far in development, because I have bought them through a very big Unity-package, called uMMORPG CE.
With that said, the game will still take years to complete if I am only working alone.
That period will shorten if I was ever to get more people working on it.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The complete version will, without a doubt, be very different that the current version, which is very early in development. For example, a whole building system is planned for the RTS part of the game.
All the 1. person shooter aspects are missing as well.
I don't need to develop those aspects from scratch however. There are many packages with most of the functionality, out there already and I intend to use them.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable and you can test the core features through the current demo scene. Don't expect the graphics, weapons, enemies, combatsystem, levelsystem, abilities, to be anything like the current, in the final game. The final game will be very different, but the main core funcionality, primarily the networking aspect, is more or less done and that's the most important part, because it's the most difficult one, in a game like this.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Currently the game is at a hobby stage and I haven't invested more than a few hundred dollars in it. Therefore I don't see the pricing change anytime soon. I don't know if the final product will be free to play with micro transactions or a more traditional one-time purchase. I personally favor the last option, but I am open for suggestions. I aim to keep the game free to play during early access. When we release there will be some sort of pricing.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“For now, send an email to [email protected]. If the game catches on, I would probably open a Discord server.”

About This Game

Flempire is a mix of 1. person action shooting and RTS, combined in a fantasy world. Switch between having the full overview of the entire battlefield, constructing buildings, controlling many units, or choose to be in the middle of it, become a rank-an-file unit or a hero with special abilities. You and your teammates must work together and find your way to defeat the enemy team, by capturing important strategic locations, build a great economy and finally, strike down your enemies.
The game also includes an inventory system, items, quests, stores, as well as standard chat functionality. We might include crafting in the future.
We would think a typical game, would include between 4-20 players and last for about an hour, but we don't see why it shouldn't be possible to be even 100 hundreds of players for grand games lasting many hours. The framework which the game is based on, is used for MMO games, so the foundation is certainly there.
