About This Game

Welcome:

Great Powers At War puts you in control of a customizable hero that you create by determining their race, class, and name. Pick a faction to champion—you can lead humans, orcs, elves, or even the undead—and use your battlefield prowess to guide your people to victory across multiple worlds in fantasy-themed turn-based hex combat. Your goal: Conquer the enemy factions and claim their worlds until you reign supreme!

Great Powers At War emphasizes streamlined design, ease of play, and addictiveness, meaning both strategy veterans and gamers entirely new to the genre can sink their teeth in and enjoy the experience’s gentle learning curve. For those who want a challenge, there are difficulty modes that are sure to keep even the most skilled players on their toes.

Gameplay:

Strategic, turn-based hex combat is the core of the game, but there’s plenty more to do in Great Powers At War, starting with customizing the hero you’ll use to lead your faction to victory. Once you’ve decided on your hero’s attributes and embarked on your journey, you’ll also need to research technologies, craft buildings, and manage your faction’s economy in order to augment your capabilities on the battlefield.
Growing your faction’s military, economy, and scientific output to the point of being able to conquer foes is no small task. An average playthrough of Great Powers At War can run over 30 hours, and the game’s numerous choice-based strategy systems mean each playthrough will offer a unique experience.

Key features:

  • Create your own leader: The custom hero you craft can earn experience and level up over the course of the game, enabling you to take on stronger foes and greater challenges.
  • Pick your team: Lead a variety of factions, including humans, orcs, elves, and the undead, each sporting military units that have distinct strengths and weaknesses.
  • Strategize: Carry out turn-based attacks on enemy forces across planning, construction, movement, and battle phases, allowing you to think granularly about how you approach combat.
  • Manage your empire: Accrue resources and money, as well as research new technologies, to ensure you’re better equipped for war than rival factions.
  • Easy entry, high skill ceiling: Designed to welcome all players, strategy newcomers can enjoy a streamlined strategy experience wherein every choice has clear consequences, while genre enthusiasts can test their skills against increasingly difficult AI enemies.
  • Choose your difficulty: You can pick between easy, normal, hard, and extreme difficulty modes to tailor your gameplay experience to your preferences.
  • Infinite replayability: You can change your hero, faction, difficulty, and strategy with every playthrough, ensuring no two conquests are alike.
