What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe that Le Mans Ultimate will immediately offer a strong online and offline racing experience and will be a valuable addition to the Steam libraries of every sim racer. However, the decision to enter Early Access with this product underlines our determination to add to our ‘day one’ experience whilst acknowledging this game is not yet a ‘full release’ title.

Much like our recent experience running a public ‘beta’ program for the rFactor 2 online experience, bug reports and feedback from the community has helped us improve our systems and Studio 397 are looking forward to involving the community again with Le Mans Ultimate.

The Early Access period will allow us to work through our internal roadmap, with some known features coming to the game that we’ll let racers know about upfront and others that we hope to surprise and delight fans with. Most importantly, however, is our desire to listen and receive feedback from the community so that we can create the best possible sportscar experience for fans of the genre.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Right now, we aren’t able to say exactly how long this game will be in Early Access for. We have clear internal requirements for the game to be considered full-release and these include functionality as well as bugs and issues being resolved.

However, we may find that the community offers us some feedback or feature ideas we then consider to be too important to omit from a full release or that certain features take longer to develop than previously expected.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have mapped out multiple features that we’re looking to bring to the game to improve on-track experience, new game modes and extensions of multiplayer capability. We hope this will include several racing modes for both online and offline play as well features that bring a richer and deeper endurance racing feel for the player – providing an immersive and interactive experience with more customisable options.

Full details of precise upcoming features and content will be shared regularly on our channels, website, forum and Steam as we progress in development during the Early Access period.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Players on day one will be able to use the single player path that is Race Weekend – allowing the player to customise a FIA WEC or 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend, with Practice, Qualifying and Race, configured with a variety of weather simulation options, including rain and full day-to-night transitions.

Players will also be able to gain a taste of the online experience, powered by RaceControl. Initially, you will be able to take part in Daily Races against other players around the world – whilst building up your Driver and Safety Ranking. Proving you’re a safe driver online via your Safety Rank, you will unlock higher level Daily Races and the Driver Rank places you in races that reflect your skill, helping to ensure a competitive race each time you join. In future, these Driver Ranks will also be involved with esports competitions on the title.

A lot of work has gone into the base of Le Mans Ultimate to provide an authentic, enjoyable and usable platform for a wide range of players to begin their FIA WEC journey.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The initial offering for the game will be the lowest price for the game in its Early Access phase. Those early adopters will enjoy playing the game early with access to features and content, whilst also helping input into the future roadmap of the product with new features and updates being delivered to players when they are ready as part of the initial price.

As the game grows with more features, the price of the title will increase gradually to reflect the content and feature set in the game for any new fans who want to join the Le Mans Ultimate community.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community and marketing team will closely be monitoring feedback on social media, Discord and our new forum that are due to go live ahead of release. These outlets will also provide a point for support – with fixes and patch information. We are also considering ‘feedback events’ for specific periods as well as further activations at WEC events. Additionally, as we share more roadmap information, we know the users will be giving us great information on what they would most like to see so that we can investigate and prioritise those”

About This Game

Le Mans is a continually evolving story… powered by emotion, speed and glory.
In the car, in the team garage, on the track and every step of the way – teamwork, true grit and human spirit comes together to make the complete championship winning formula. Here is what you can expect from day one of Early Access when the journey begins on the 20th February.

Official Game
Le Mans Ultimate is the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Play-out the exciting new era for sportscar racing. Le Mans Ultimate offers an immersive game for both seasoned sim racers and those new to the sport and genre, growing and evolving with the real-life FIA WEC series.

The Iconic Cars
Drive the latest manufacturer Hypercars from the incredible 2023 centenary season – bristling with the latest technology. Recreate tantalising on track battles between Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, Cadillac, Peugeot, Glickenhaus and Vanwall.
Alongside the Hypercars comes a competitive array of classes. Lock horns in wheel-to-wheel LMP2 competition as well as the ultra-close, thunderous GTE cars. Drive for supremacy for famous brands such as Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari and Porsche.
12 cars will be available from day one with over 100 different livery variations.

The Legendary Circuits
Enjoy the pulsating challenge of racing around some of the most revered circuits in the world including the seven destinations on the 2023 calendar: Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Sebring International Raceway, Bahrain International Circuit, Algarve International Circuit (Portimão), Fuji Speedway and the legendary – Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans – the playground for the ultimate racing experience.

Power is in your Hands
Le Mans Ultimate uses the industry leading physics and handling simulation DNA from pMotor 2.5 as used and improved from rFactor2 – and builds upon that foundation, enabling the game to be more accessible and user friendly to the community with quality of life improvements – removing barriers to entry while also maintaining the key core elements of sim racing.
The game will have selectable difficulty level – to allow the player to determine their own skill level with help for first timers allowing adjustable assists. Additionally, language localisation is available for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish speakers. Concise and clear user interface (UI), easy to understand heads up display (HUD) and broadcast style track elements are also features of the game and will immerse the player in the official FIA WEC and Le Mans experience.

Let Battle Commence!
For those looking for the edge of the seat, wheel-to-wheel competition against real-life drivers, the Online function, powered by RaceControl, will be home to that pulsating challenge. At launch, racers will be able to take part in ranked Daily Races, running regularly throughout the day. This will provide the opportunity to build the player’s Driver and Safety rankings – in the future, this will offer up further opportunities, as the player unlocks higher ranked races and exclusive events when the game develops and grows alongside the real-life FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Ultimate Race Weekend
Racing game fans will start their Le Mans Ultimate journey in either Offline Race Weekend or Online. Race Weekend will provide the perfect place to start for any driver, as they select a player profile of Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced according to their sim racing experience.
This area of play will be the chance to get to grips with the exotic machinery, refine car set-up and learn the circuits while formulating your own FIA WEC race weekend – taking part in Practice, Qualifying and the main Race – adjusting the time of day, session duration and weather conditions to your liking.

Hitting The Ground Running
Le Mans Ultimate will use an advancement in Real Road 2.0 track evolution simulation found uniquely in Studio 397 titles. Like a real race session, the track will begin as a green, relatively gripless circuit at the start of a weekend and rubber in as more cars pass over the racing line – with cars moving the dust, dirt and marbles off-line. Work is being undertaken in several areas, including the dynamic weather effects too, such as rainfall and debris on windscreens and more realistic flow of water and formation of puddles on the circuit. The cars will also evolve with the race, and the build-up of dirt and debris will cover the car – giving it the authentic weathered, endurance look.
