What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access is great because I would like to be able to "test the waters" so to speak as to which direction people would like to see the game taken. I would like to eventually turn the game into a larger underwater exploration-type adventure horror game. The current game is more of a preview of what that gameplay experience would look like! However, if people really like the underwater escape mechanics, I'm more than happy to focus more on that and leave the adventuring for later.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6 Months. If this changes I will make an announcement.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to expand the scope of the game into a larger underwater/horror exploration game. The current game would be an example of a high-intensity encounter in a giant underwater chamber, for example. I also plan to add more ship customization options. In short, I would like to make the game about being thrown into a giant underground ocean where you fight enemies to upgrade your ship while getting the daylights scared out of you by giant underwater horror monsters.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of early access is complete with one map and a variety of enemies. The game only has one ship, one weapon, and no weapon upgrades. Ship builds and upgrades will likely be added in the future, however, they are not currently added as the focus of the game is horror not creating an underwater ship build (for now).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will be gradually increased as more content is introduced.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community is the single most crucial factor in any game's success. The community will be vital in all stages of the game's development (although I reserve the right to make final decisions on the game as the game's developer). Steam Forums are a great option (alongside Discord if people are interested).”

About This Game

The Deepwater is an underwater horde escape game with horror elements.

You control a small, weak ship and must attempt to navigate and blast your way to freedom as you try to find an exit in this giant underwater chamber. But, be warned, you never know what might lurk in the depths...

Horde Meets Underwater Horror

A unique fusion of the popular horde-style genre with classic indie horror in an aquatic environment.

Escape Instead Of Survive

Unlike traditional horde games, the goal of The Deepwater is to escape before you die, instead of surviving a certain amount of time.

Fine-tuned Underwater Controls

Ship controls are tuned to feel like you're really underwater!
