What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Virtu-Pilot was built from the ground up for the Meta Quest. Before we commit to a full release and while we work on performance optimisation, we wanted to get feedback from the community on key parts of the VR experience they enjoy so we could focus on those.

Releasing for PC is easier though and they are also certain features such as taxing and flight simulation model that still need a lot of work, esp. for the quest.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“12 months+, we are a small team working on this part-time and with your support it would be a dream to be able to work on this full time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning to develop an affordable community version to share the joys of flight and a professional version for those dedicated to climbing the aviation career ladder.

For the community version we want to have 1-3 wowing lessons that inspire people to take their first flight. We want to work with the community to iron out as many bugs as possible.

For the professional version we want to implement pre-recorded or game AI instructors, develop a progress framework and work with flight schools and instructors to expand the PPL curriculum - from first flight to first solo.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This experience is best experienced in VR. Desktop mode is limited and more for people without VR headsets to get an idea of our vision.

There is sandbox 'pilot briefing room'
Lesson 1 is playable and completable, with some minor bugs when grabbing stuff.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Keen to work with flight instructors or schools on a ground school integration trial.
Would be great to hear the communities thoughts on key procedures they would like to learn and how we can make the steps easier to understand.

Donations would be greatly appreciated to accelerate development”

About This Game

A Letter from The Developers

To the next generation of aviators,

We hope this experience encourages and helps you to embark on your first lesson, grit through ground school, feel the joy of your first solo flight and pass your check ride.

And if piloting isn't quite your cup of tea, there is a plethora of aviation careers out there.

Yours,
Aries VR - a squadron of aerospace enthusiasts, trainee pilots and licensed pilots sharing their first person experiences of their training journeys

Overview

Virtu-Pilot was originally tailored for the Meta Quest 2 to equip aspiring pilots with a cost-effective and engaging VR training tool, empowering them to gain confidence and master aviation skills at their own pace.

For the most immersive experience, we recommend using VR, allowing you to step into the pilot's shoes and perform checks and procedures using your virtual hands as if you were in real life. Be prepared to crouch, chuck obstructions, check for ice, open doors, flick lights on and remove tie downs.

NOTE: We excited to bring Early Access to the aviation community, but please remember, this is an early access experience, and your input is invaluable in shaping the future of aviation training. The Windows desktop mode adaptation is quite limited and compatibility with non Meta Quest VR headsets is unknown.
