What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Responding’s prototype build has been available to our pre-order supporters since 2022, and has been an amazing middle-ground to allow our passionate community to try out, test, and provide feedback on Responding’s gameplay features. Our prototype has remained off Steam until we we were confident in delivering a worthwhile product to a larger player-base.

We are choosing Steam Early Access, as we believe it is time to introduce our product to a larger player-base, as we continue to refine existing features, and implement new and exciting gameplay experiences.

Our biggest desire is to create a well refined and desired end product that can be enjoyed by many for years to come, and to accomplish this we want to receive as much feedback on the game while we are still in development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Responding to approximately remain in Early Access for a minimum of 3 years. We have every intention of bringing Responding to a full and finished state; and our passion and commitment shows, through our continued and consistent development since 2017

To us, this is our passion product, our child… not a quick cash grab. Rome wasn't built in a day”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Throughout Early Access, you can expect Responding to be expanded and refined on practically all fronts. Whether it be the expansion of the playable map area to our intended scale, improvements to detail and graphical fidelity, new call-outs and in-game events, new departments, specialized units, equipment, customization options, and vehicles, as well as various tweaks, additions, and overhauls to existing systems.

Once our core experience is complete, we intend for Responding to eventually receive full modding support with a complete Source Development Kit (SDK), allowing for our community to have complete control in customizing their Emergency Services Sandbox experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently Responding is in a prototype phase, where the main focus is the testing of various systems and mechanics to see their effect and enjoyability, as Responding brings 3 emergency services departments to the table we had made our first priority to create an enjoyable and immersive police experience as this required the most extensive and complex mechanics compared to the other emergency services experiences we want to offer.

For a list of the already implemented features and mechanics, check out the "About This" section!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of Responding will increase after the early access period, as we believe the game will offer much more, and having a lower price during early access will make it more accessible.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have an amazing community on our socials but mainly our discord server at //discord.gg/responding with relevant feedback and suggestion channels that we encourage our community to utilize! We also have a bug report submissions form to help quality assure our product.

We greatly welcome feedback and advice from current and previously serving emergency services personnel to better deliver on realism, and we even have an unique adviser role on discord for those that have made practical contributions.”

About This Game

What is Responding?

Responding is an upcoming open-world Emergency Services simulator sandbox that offers a realistic and in-depth Police, Fire, and EMS experience that is set in a fictional version of New York State.
In the world of Responding, you, as the player, have complete freedom to engage in pursuits, traffic stops, shootouts, 4th alarm box fires, and much more. Work together with friends or intelligent AI to keep the city and upstate suburbs safe and peaceful.

Features

Realistic and progressive scene's

Scene management plays a big role with any incident, and it's not just up to you to manage the scene, AI will take on any roles to resolve the situation, keep the scene safe or to collect evidence and witnesses statements.

Action

Besides regular traffic stops and wellness checks Responding offers unprecedented action within emergency services simulators, with mechanics seen in your favourite tactical shooters such as tactical reloads, holding your breath, ammo management and much more.

Customization

We like customization and we know you do, we desire to bring this to various aspects of Responding, beginning with the vehicles. From the equipment you store in your trunks to the placement of antennas on the roof. And it doesn't stop there!

Pull Over Vehicles

Seamlessly pull over any vehicle that you've seen breaking the law, or even when none is broken at all. Question the driver for his behaviour and decide if the driver deserves a ticket, warning or a pass, but do not be surprised if the vehicle or the driver suddenly attempt to evade you and the law.

Emergency Lighting

Bringing the most in depth and realistic emergency lighting system, with customization that allows you to create unique lighting patterns by setting the on and off time for each lighting module. And it doesn't stop there, create 3 presets to switch between in real-time and set the desired text to display on your message board!

Discord

Become part of our active community on discord, this is the place to discuss the future of Responding and to voice your opinion on the desires for the ultimate emergency simulator!

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Players will encounter situations where they may need to use force to apprehend suspects or respond to violent incidents. While we strive to maintain realism, the game does not glorify gratuitous violence.
