What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dance Junkie is currently in Beta Testing. This is my first Steam launch and I'm a solo Indie Developer. This hasn't been tested as thoroughly as games released by mature studios. There will be issues, please report them to the listed email address.

Additionally, the scene builder and character builder are disabled. They both include assets that have 3D models that haven't had the correct licensing purchased. They will be purchased upon reaching certain funding goals.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hopefully only a couple months. Part of the delay is getting RealmConnect published to the play store (and eventually to iOS). This requires people to sign-up on the company's website.

That being said, it's hard to estimate exactly how long. Testing on various levels of hardware will always introduce issues.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan for the full version to have the scene builder, character creator, and an option to buy the song-builder add-on. With the song-builder, players can create their own dances and upload them to Steam. I also plan for top rated dances to be available to all users (including free-to-play), while the rest are only available with the song-builder add-on.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version is fully playable with a complete tutorial. Currently voice commands are disabled, along with the character and scene builder modes. The song bank is currently being developed, and users are encouraged to send in songs they've made to be listed in the Dance Junkie repository under the creator's Steam ID.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan for the game to always be free-to-play, but creating your own songs and accessing other players' songs will be optional add-on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There is a Reddit page started where comments/suggestions are more than welcome. For now, the focus is on getting all features implemented. In the future I plan on doing polls to see what kind of content people want to see next.”

About This Game

Dance Junkie is a full body Rhythm Smasher game that turns your webcam into a motion capture system. For players without a webcam, or who need additional computing power, a smartphone or laptop can be linked to the game through RealmConnect. Experience full body tracking without the expensive equipment while you move your body in a fully immersive fantasy world.

You have implants in your hands, feet and chest that allow you to pop "Tune Bubbles". Tune bubbles spawn in response to music, so you're going to need a bit of rhythm to be successful.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The voice used for Aurora (the tutorial head) is AI generated from ElevenLabs.io and further processed.

Some of the graphics used were generated with Leonardo.ai and further processed
