Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I believe getting Layer Null out there early will ultimately make it a better game, through a loop of gradual updates and implementation of player feedback.

For a card game like this, it's especially important to keep re-balancing things (while keeping the fun) between updates, by observing how players play and break the game. And for that reason, I believe an iterative model like Early Access is a good match.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“9-12 months, with content updates planned every 1-2 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Full version is planned to have 12 Zones, each one with its own card set, characters and bosses. Aside from planned content, the current Early Access is more or less feature-complete (planned cards, menus, battle and world mechanics, etc.) but more mechanics may be added together with future content updates.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“4 out of 12 planned Zones (levels) in the game are currently complete, together with first 4 card sets and accompanying game mechanics”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will start low and rise gradually with each major update”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'm talking to players via Discord and I'm planning to collect feedback from Steam forums and Reddit. Then, taking everything into account, I'll make new quality of life features, card set and mechanics re-balances.”

About This Game

Anode Heart: Layer Null is a side-game semi-sequel to the monster tamer game of Anode Heart. This game focuses on the vastly expanded card game combat and becoming the No. 1 card master on the Server.

You play as Blank, a new player in the Duel Server, an in-between Layer of the Systems where everything is decided by Card Games. As you rise through the Server Ranks, you will start encountering the Shadowed, members of a mysterious organization with an unknown, but most probably evil goal.

[!] There are reoccurring characters and references to the first Anode Heart installment, but it's not necessary to know them in order to enjoy this game.

Game features:
* Unique card battling system
* Local (and direct connection) PvP
* 420+ cards to collect and play with
* 12 unique levels and card bosses
* New story and characters
* Tama monster DNA collection
* an Isometric Gameboy/PSX vibe

Card game minigame from Anode Heart is now expanded into its own game, with 10 new booster packs, re-balanced card sets and refurbished rules and mechanics. There are card bosses and Tama you can fight through the card game, and a tournament ranking style system.

This is the second game in the Anode Heart universe, serving as a bridge to the Sequel that will take place on the far side of Zearth, shortly after the ending of the first game. [Layer Null] is set in a new Layer, with focus now entirely on the card game and a new plot surrounding it. There's a new cast of characters, but you may recognize a few familiar faces and names. I've carried over the lessons I learned through the release of my first game, so whether you're new to the A:H universe or a Virtual-slaying Veteran, I hope you'll enjoy this one as well!
