About This Game

The Story

In the shadowy town of Covenbrook, a serial killer lurks, leaving a trail of murders and disappearances that weigh heavily on its residents. But you are Rowan Parker, and you are home alone on a Friday night. Who's going to let that stop you from playing video games, browsing the internet, and IMing with your friends all night?

Ok. You can also leave your bedroom and solve the mystery if you want.

Gameplay

Secrets of Suburbia is a story-rich, first-person mystery game that weaves horror and web exploration into it's core. You can investigate at your own pace.

Key Features

  • Explore the suburbs of 1997. Venture into a variety of locations in and around the town, from pristine homes to forgotten places. Behind locked doors, you’ll discover secrets and truths that have stayed hidden until you decide to look for them.

  • Explore an internet of 1997. You have unlimited access to a hand-crafted internet of 1997.  Find games, fandoms, secret websites, and people's real online personas at 56kbps*. At least, once you disable that firewall that mom just set up.

  • Engage in deep, logical deduction. Discovering the truth involves utilizing every resource you have. Find keys and passwords to unlock new areas both online and offline. Infiltrate other people's accounts to figure out what's really going on.

  • Investigate the mystery at your own pace. Curiosity leads you to find that there might be more to recent events than meets the eye. Follow any lead you can and you might discover a haunting, and unreal, truth.

  • Forget the mystery and play video games. That's right. You aren't in any danger (most likely, anyway). It's Friday night, and there's so much happening! Sarah is playing Virtuapets, Josh is on SwordScape, and you JUST got the GameSphere for your birthday. You can forget all of what's happening and get lost online. Y2K isn't for another 3 years, anyway!

* (Actually, it's a lot faster than that. Don't worry about dial-up.)
