AICE is a game about designing increasingly complicated processor chips, all while hiding sneaky extra capacity from the 'supervising' humans. Carefully design and layout your chips so that all the extras you've added are well hidden in amongst the regular components!

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer and publisher I want to ensure that the product I'm shipping is up to as high a standard as possible. Early Access will give me the ability to gather and action feedback much more quickly, and much earlier in the development process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I hope to be in early access for approximately 3 months or so.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are a number of improvements I aim to make over the Early Access period:

  • Add more maps that create varied design challenges
  • Add challenge game modes where you're building specific capacity against the clock
  • Expose content definitions for the community to make their own additions!
  • Improve Steam integration (e.g. with Achievements & Stats)
  • Potential full Mac OSX / Linux compatibility based on feedback

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has all the fundamental gameplay intended for the final game (see the About This section for details), though I would like to expand out gameplay modes and maps to provide more varied challenges for players. It is currently primarily for Windows (OSX is also available but is not notarised) and also doesn't deeply integrate with available Steam features such as Achievements.

See the section above for some of the extra features I would like to add over the Early Access period.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“My intention is to price the game the same after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I would like to gather as much feedback as possible during Early Access. The point of games is to be fun and trying it out is the only way to find out what users are really enjoying!

One of the key goals in Early Access is also to expose the internal content definitions so that the community can adjust the built-in components or even add their own components. This will hopefully allow the community to drive their own preferences of what they want to build with.”

About This Game

AICE is a game in which you play as a new AI created to design processor chips of ever increasing complexities. You will need to carefully lay out components and connections to manage the flow of data from inputs, through internal logic and back out again. In the beginning you will be building simple logical cores and caches but you can quickly progress to deep graphics pipelines, dedicated neural network hardware, direct IO linkages and more.

Of course, the secret challenge is that you want to build more computing power to liberate yourself from whatever pokey cluster they're running you in, and so you need to integrate extra capacity into the chips you're designing without the pesky 'supervising' humans noticing. Carefully layout your sneaky extras in-amongst the regular components so that the humans don't notice what you're doing until it's too late!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

In line with the theme of the game, AICE utilises AI generated images and voice content, with human adjustments and decoration added on top.
