About This Demo

This is the original prototype of the game Hot Wax, made with Pico-8, the same "Fantasy Console" that gave birth to Celeste!

Pile up candle pieces and burn them down in slowly-unfolding chain reactions to score a maximum of points. The longest a flame is kept alive the more points it will give you. Bombs will help you manage your grid space and give you score boosts as well, but make sure to use them efficiently!

Plays with just the keyboard (arrow keys + Z/X) or with a game controller. A run usually takes just a few minutes. The demo features three difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Wax Whisperer.

The full game is being made with a less restrictive engine, it has a few different game modes, improved base gameplay, a few more powerups other than the bomb, an original soundtrack by Pentadrangle, unlockable palettes, and uses more pixels!
