What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I like when small developers release a game as Early Access when enough content is finished to get many hours of enjoyment out of it, and then take player feedback into account when finalizing the game.
It feels like you end up with a better product than if it had just been 1.0ed behind the scenes and released and never updated again.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current state of the game is fully playable and lets players defend against 50 nights of manually set enemy waves, and infinite waves once the victory screen is reached.
The game will be out of Early Access approximately Q4 2025, giving me a chance to fix bugs and make balance changes and add new "Minor content" such as a new tier of armor past Iron, additional spells, and additional base defense mechanisms.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game's core is mostly in place, but there is always room to add more building pieces, decorations, weapons and armor, enemies and bosses, places and chests on the island to discover, and underground caves to delve.

Any features to improve the user experience that players suggest can be implemented as well.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable with the occasional bug and needs additional balance passes over the enemy waves.
There are 50 waves of enemies with a minor victory for completing just the waves, and an ultimate victory for defeating the waves and all the bosses around the island.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game's price may increase slightly after Early Access, but I will always try to keep it a fairly low price given its an indie game made by a solo developer.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game has a Discord server that I plan to use for people to post suggestions, as well as any posted on the community tab of Steam.

Any good ideas that I agree with are likely to be implemented.”

About This Game

Survival Craft meets Tower Defense.

Shipwrecked on an uncharted island in the Irish Sea, the player's ultimate goal is to protect the Tree of Life from the dark forces of the island by building as strong of a defense as they can.

The Tree of Life starts out as only a sapling, but it grows through several life stages until it becomes a massive tree as the island's darkness is pushed back.

Enemies climb out of wells across the island and attack with increasing strength and numbers each night.

Multiplayer sessions through Steam allow up to 16 players to play together, but playing it through with a buddy or significant other from start to finish is the intended way to play.

Automate Your Defense -

The island's ruins house the spirits of the departed in the form of will-o'-wisps that can be used to power automatic firing arrow towers to defend an area.

The abilities of towers can be increased by attaching Ogham Runes to them to increase their damage, range, firing rate, or make them shoot magic arrows that go through everything but enemies.

Keep the durability of your walls and towers topped off with a Cauldron of Mending that burns bones to repair all nearby structures slowly over time.

The Building System -

Most of the building pieces are relatively large (8ft x 8ft) to speed up how long it takes to make a base. There is the option to make very small walls (2ft x 2ft) if you wish.

You can build wooden houses, palisades, archer towers, stone houses, castle walls, and stone archer towers.

Building pieces can be rotated in all three directions, and snapping can be turned off to allow for plenty of freedom when placing.

There are numerous decorations for use in your house that increase your rested buff for having them. Some decorations have a purpose beyond comfort, such as the bust statue that lets you change the appearance of your character, or the Harp of Time that allows you to skip straight to the next night. (Or the next morning if the current wave is cleared.)

Character Progression -

The player's character gains two different kinds of levels - Combat and Survival.

Combat levels up from defeating enemies or having your defenses defeat enemies and gives points to unlock perks that improve combat ability.

Survival levels up from harvesting trees, plants, rocks, ore, etc. and gives perk points to unlock perks that don't effect combat, such as more woodcutting damage.

It's split up this way so you can get the convenient non-combat perks without gimping yourself in combat.

Magic is in the game but needs more spells to be fleshed out enough to play as a mage. I have the druid armor models for male and female; they just need to be put into the game.

Armor and Weapons -

There are currently Cloth, Leather, Bronze and Iron tier armor and weapons.

Armor can have set bonuses that give increasingly good stat bonuses for equipping more pieces of the same set, or you can mix and match sets to get just the first few bonuses.

Set bonuses can be added to any piece of armor by combining two armor pieces with a set bonus into a main armor piece. If the two set bonuses aren't the same, it will pick one at random.

As for weapons, there are several types that have different attack animations: one-handed, two-handed, spear, greataxe/scythe, warhammer, and bow.

Take the fight to the enemy -

Destroy the island's strongest inhabitants hiding in their ruins to obtain ultimate weapons that are uncraftable.
