Why Early Access?

“Orbit Outlaws is a labor of love. We envision friends, families, and foes coming together in person and online to laugh, compete, and trash talk to each other. The game is substantially complete, but networked multiplayer is still missing. We want this community's help to validate the game experience locally and over Steam Remote Play. We're primarily looking for balance feedback on the game's extensive content to help ensure our online multiplayer rollout is polished in preparation for competitive play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Unfortunately, we can't offer an exact date yet. As the product demonstrates, we're committed to quality, and it's critical to us that our networked multiplayer meets the same bar we've set for local play. Until we know just how big a challenge that will prove, we're keeping a tight lip.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“You'll have a very good taste of the full product, so long as you're willing to play locally, over Steam Remote Play, or Parsec. Roughly 70% of the final planned content is available now. At Early Access launch, there are seven weapons, seven chasses, and six pilots to unlock, each of which can be upgraded and modded. There are five campaigns with 20 missions, four game modes, and 10 maps.

Full release will add online multiplayer. Between now and full release, we'll be incrementally introducing additional weapons, chasses, mods, and our villains pack of new pilots. We'll add an additional story arc revealing the nefarious secrets of MegaCorp. And we'll include localization for non-English languages.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is 100% playable and fully representative of the final version. We expect we'll need a fair bit of game balance and fine-tuning, but the experience is very similar to what you can expect at launch.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As an Early Access player, you'll pay a reduced price and gain access to all the content we add on our road to full release. Once we've launched, the price will increase to reflect the additional content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're fortunate to be working with the rockstars at Rogue Games, who have deep experience in developing great communities. You can expect to find us in all the usual places, but Discord will be the backbone of our strategy. We welcome any and all feedback, and we, the dev team, can't wait to start engaging directly with you. We'll also set up events where we can play with you and the community.”
