CLASSIC JRPG DONE RIGHT

The Brothers is a classically styled 2D JRPG featuring Octopath Traveller inspired combat, with modern features you can't live without: Auto saving, quest logs, a built in encyclopaedia and a digital manual just scratch the surface.

NOT THE SAME STORY YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING SINCE THE 16-BIT DAYS

The Brothers isn't a tale about a chosen one stopping The Big Bad. You're not a soldier. A child of prophecy. You're a young man on a journey of discovery, having been given something you thought you'd never have again - hope.

Left abandoned and alone by those who raised him, Quartz needed to grow up fast if he and his five little brothers were going to survive. He worked hard. Never let them down. Never faltered in his surrogate role. Quartz sacrificed everything to give them all the best life he could.

And then, one night, everything was taken from him. His home. His family. All of it.

Just… Gone.

Unable to cope with the grief at his perceived failure, Quartz allowed himself to float out to sea on his fishing boat. He didn't know where he was going. He didn't care if he ever got there. He didn't know if there was anywhere to get to.

Days later, the people of an unknown village on a continent Quartz didn’t even know existed spot a small fishing boat bobbing on the horizon. Quartz thought his journey had ended. But for Quartz, unconscious and dehydrated, it was just the beginning.

WHAT SETS THE BROTHERS APART?

The story is unique, personal, and well-written. It's funny, tragic, moving and has an air of mystery that pulls you through to its conclusion. The environments are full of details you can inspect and explore for background lore, insights to NPCs and more! Paintings, shelves, clutter - you can examine it all if you want deeper lore, or ignore it if you're just here for the excellent story and a fun RPG. The Brothers features a full encyclopaedia of your discoveries, which is updated automatically as you explore. Creatures, spells, locations, weapons, loot... It's all tracked and organised, uncovered as you play. There's a complete Journal built in, which tracks every quest, mission or activity you choose to undertake. No more loading up an old save and not having a clue what to do next or where to go! There's structured progress in an open world. Go from plot point to plot point, or explore in between as you like. Nothing is permanently missable, timed or expires. Don't worry about that side quest - it'll be there waiting for you when you return... If you choose to return!

SYSTEM MASTERS? WHAT IS THAT?

Back in the early nineties, a few school friends and I started making games on systems like the C64 and the BBC Micro. I created the name based on contemporaries at the time: Code Masters, Mastertronic, Origin Systems. It's an identity I've stuck with ever since!
