What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Exipelago is a very complex game under the hood and it's development is community-driven and community-funded, that means further development of the game is tied to overall interest and feedback from the community. Participating in the games feedback channels, getting the EA Version or just wishlisting will bring the game forward.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Decided by the community - or - as long as it takes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Depends on the feature requests from the community - if there is a feature wish I will try my best to implement it.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The EA Version is basically already a playable VIllage Simulation where you can manage and build up your village and keep growing. It also comes with a creative mode where you can freely build your dream village without any survival elements.
Next to that, the game comes with integrated editors to make your own assets like plants, trees, items, materials and production chains - and you can share them via steam workshop.

A full list of current features can be found on the games website.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will adapt dynamically to the content provided.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Here's the thing - this is a niche game and such a game cannot be done without support from the community. So there is several ways to interact with the games development like using the forum or ideally joining the to raise some discussions or request features.”

About This Game

In Exipelago it's your turn to make your tribe into a bustling kingdom. Beside gathering food & shelter to support the colony they also want to make themself a known entity by building the greatest structures.

Exipelago is a sandbox village managment game, where everything you see is procedurally generated and customisable. Every tree you fell will give it's distinct type of wood, which can be processed into it's distinct type of plank to ultimately craft an item which has the optical style of the tree it was originally made out of. The same is true for every other ressource, like different types of rock and ore - both being found by digging down into the earth. And with the supplied editors you can even make your own things like trees, materials, plants & items

Featuring a true voxel experience - everything you see can be broken down, placed elsewhere or get transformed into something else in a dynamically reacting world. Different types of shapes also give you more freedom to just build your imagination and let your tribe use it.

Every procedurally generated island is different, brings new challenges for your tribe you have to care for and is fully destructible and dynamic in every detail - even trees and plants grow smoothly while time passes by

Key Features:

Procedurally - Every island is different and so is every tree and every plant
Dynamic World - Everything can either be digged, chopped, mined, picked up, collected, stockpiled or crafted into something else
Open Sandbox - Your tribe, your imagination. Survive and Thrive.
Managment - Crafting, Queuing, Transporting, Trading, Stockpiling
Villagers - The workforce of your village. They will need sleep, food, light and shelter
Editors - Create your own trees, plants, items and materials. Share your creations via Steam Workshop

Underground - Dig big mines to gather lots of ressources like all sorts of stone
Time matters - Plants & Trees will grow in realtime. Plant enough so you have a steady supply of materials.
Materials - Whatever can be crafted will reassemble the ressource it was crafted with. As there are several types of trees, so is several types of logs, several types of planks and ultimately several types of furniture
More than blocks - Exipelago features several block shapes like ramps to make your creations stand out.
Creative Mode - In case you just want to build and nothing else - there is now a Creative Mode / Sandbox as well.
