What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are starting our game out as "Early Access" because like most E-A games, we are lacking of end-game content, however we are in a playable state where we would like our community to aide us in moving forward.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The "Early Access" title will remain for approximately one calendar year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plans for the full release will add a much higher plethora of content. A lot of our endgame content(including quests, powerful weapons and attachments, upgrades to the hideout, as well as lots and lots of interesting lore!) will not be released during early access, though we will get as close to that threshold as possible. On top of that, our MASSIVE map will have many more areas to explore once we fully release!
We at Cloaked Chameleon Studios want to ensure that Project: SPIKE becomes a game not only with the features thought out by our developers, but with help and feedback from our community!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We will consider this Early Access state as; Alpha 0.1

The current state is "playable", with still having a lot to offer for the players to spend hours on. The most memorable spots that the player will spend a lot of time in, is there Hideout, and/or out in the world.

For more information on our state, it is in the "About this game" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access, the price will not fluctuate until we deem Early Access to be a completed stage in our development. When Early Access is completed, we plan on gradually increasing the price to a maximum "x" amount dependant on the assets we bring forth into Project: Spike.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan on having many server events in our Discord, to engage the community to help us find anything wrong with the game, i.e bugs/nerfs/buffs etc. Our studio plans to work with the community every stage of development.”

About This Game

This is where your story begins!

Stories erupted so quickly. A mass outbreak of a mysterious infection causing immense pain were reported all throughout the news, radio, television, all of it. As far as the public is concerned, these infected are long gone. For others, they're still people, living excruciatingly painful lives.

After countless miles of searching, you finally come across an empty bunker. The perfect spot to take refuge from the harsh environment and all its natural and unnatural hazards.

Survivability

Up to 200 survivors just like you struggling to make ends meet. Adventure out of the safety of your hideout to gather supplies, blueprints, and put together the pieces of this virus came to be. How will you manage to stay safe? Will you trade, kill whom ever you see or make friends? You can use our VoIP system to speak with others and even get your hands on a radio! No matter what situation you find yourself in, remember that it will always be your life, or theirs. TRUST NO ONE!

Craft or find your kit

In your hideout, you have access to a plethora of tools and crafting recipes that will greatly help you in the field. With our changing environment and multiple environmental hazards, you'll need to gear up to prepare for all hazards that you may find, infected and player alike!

Living your life

As you can expect to encounter harsh environments, difficult situations and even life threatening events. Luckily you will have your bunker to fall back to! If you're ever in a pinch, you'll be able to craft life saving items using the worlds various materials. But remember, you won't be able to craft everything! If the situation ever gets too serious, you can always retreat back to your bunker!

Time to get back to the bunker!

After getting back to the bunker, you will notice there's things to clean up! Not only can you tidy around the hideout, you can also craft items from parts you've found. As you will notice a large cave-in within your bunker, you can fix it up! Its believed to have a medical unit buried under all of that rubble, which should have the tools necessary to probably dissect one of the infected.

In the bunker, you will find a note. Most likely a previous survivor came across the bunker as well. It reads
"There's a laptop in the bunker that I haven't yet tried to turn on, I'm hoping if I do I can probably still access the net if its even on.. Maybe I can even do some shopping for my hideout! Oh how nice would it be to go pet shopping online!"

I'll have to learn some skills

Now that it's the post-apocalypse, It's probably best to learn some new skills! Combat training in this difficult environment is definitely a must! You'll have to learn to be efficient with your resource gather as well! Being able to carry more important items means faster development of other skills! Like crafting, engineering, or even the medical sciences! Maybe you can even discover the secrets of the crashed train!

Finding things in parts?!

Living in this environment is tough enough.. A lot of the buildings are hollow now. They've been looted and left with little to nothing. Though, one persons trash is another ones treasure! Using blueprints and finding the parts to items and equipment will be one of the main ways of acquiring high end loot! If you can't find it, you'll most likely be able to make it yourself!

Where's all the food

Having no one working on the farms or in the grocery stores, the wide-spread panic didn't help anything either.. People were storming the markets and farms, hoping to get as much as they can. In their panic, fights occurred. You'll have to start thinking of ways to sustain yourself. Maybe you can plant something in the bunker? Or even have a personal farm somewhere close by!

Weird traders walking around

There have been glimpses of backpackers who wander the world, but very few people know of their true intentions. Some radio stations pick up conversations or chatter of sightings, almost turning them into cryptids! They're always handy to look out for, and can trade items to you that you will likely need in your journeys! As long as you're willing to pay their price that is. Few have spoken to them face to face, usually leaving items in cashes hidden in the world will be the most you ever interact with them.
