What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Despite the fact that the game already contains quite a lot of content, we want to give it more time to improve it. We feel that the game has a lot of potential, but in order to fully achieve it, the game will need some more work.

We have a lot of ideas for further development, but it is still good to verify that our vision aligns with your expectations.

That's why we want to get your feedback and find out what you, the players, expect from this game. Once we are armed with this knowledge, it will be much easier for us to bring the game to a final version.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It is hard for us to give a specific date. We are dedicated to ensuring that the game when we release it will be in a satisfactory state for us and our players. A lot depends on how much and what kind of feedback we get. If we had to give a general date, we suspect that full release would be somewhere in 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The first difference is that the mechanics in the early version of the game may sometimes seem unpolished. We will need some time to perfect them well and get your opinion on them.

The second difference is quality of life features which may be missing initially because they were not necessary for the VR version. These will be added over time when we notice that some elements of the gameplay could have been more comfortable.

The third difference is content. We want the game to include even more pure gameplay content that will give you hours of fun by the time the full version is released.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We want to make sure that each mechanic receives adequate attention and that it is satisfying and fun to use. For this reason, we are ready to adjust even basic mechanics like camera, shooting system and other fundamental aspects of the game.

In terms of content, the game in its current state offers as much as the full version of Survival Nation on VR.
That is:
- A decent number of weapons,
- Various side activities,
- Dozens of quests with full voice-over,
- Large open world,
- Multiplayer (PvE, PvP),
- Variety of zombies,
- Level system and 3 skill trees,
- Survival mechanics (crafting, eating and drinking, resource gathering, hunting, fishing).

There may be some minor differences in content due to adjusting some of the mechanics from VR to flatscreen.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price after full release may slightly increase to reflect all the changes that have been made to the game since the beginning of Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are committed to ensuring that the community has a strong influence on the development of the game. For this reason, we aim to actively participate in social channels together with the community. Thanks to this we will be able not only to get your opinions but also discuss them with you.”

About This Game

The zombie apocalypse happened. What caused it? Who's behind the plague? How do you contract it? All of these trivial questions have gone with the first bite, turning humans from Earth's apex predator to the new predators' most delicious prey. Join the Survival Nation, fight zombies, and keep what remains of the human civilization alive!

Survival Nation: Lost Horizon is first and foremost a survival RPG. It isn’t just a robust crafting system: Each survivor is precious, potentially developing a unique set of skills and abilities. All of which may be of use to your group of survivors, spread across three distinct skill trees: Combat, Survival, and Endurance. Each also has needs that need to be met. Harness their potential and survive in a collapsed world: Scour derelict buildings for canned goods, hunt animals and fish, or try and keep your camp intact long enough to harvest fresh produce from the garden.

After all, it's not a zombie apocalypse without zombies. Every decision must be considered against these ravenous hordes who want nothing more than munch on your survivors' precious internal organs.

Work together with your fellow survivors to stem the tide and protect your camp, cooperate to take down powerful mutants, and - if you feel lucky - go on the offensive to hunt down roaming boss zombies, who might hold precious loot. But be wary, the zombie might not be as dangerous as your fellow man.

If you prefer online play and multiplayer, Survival Nation: Lost Horizon has you covered. Adventure across the post-apocalypse in groups and face challenges together in PVE. Prefer solitary pursuits without the threat of other players hanging over you? Set up your own server, where you can explore the open world and experience Survival Nation: Lost Horizon at your own pace!

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

In Survival Nation you will find violence against zombies. It comes down to shooting zombies and beating them with melee weapons. You will NOT experience gore elements such as dismembering bodies.
