About This Game

Once we learned to survive off planet, for a time, we thought we had everything all figured out and under control. Although powerful interests on all sides were calling for it, Mars eventually won independence without anticipated bloodshed. Humanity was prosperous and peaceful.

That was until an asteroid struck Earth with no advanced warning. Investigations revealed very unusual materials not usually found to explain how it slipped by the Early Warning sensors. Speculations about the origin of the asteroid went wild. Some said Early Warning Inc. was covering up faulty systems by saying the materials were unusual. Others said that the unusual materials prove that it came from the Mars colony. The conspiracy theories and emotional anger just got worse and worse as fear mounted of a new unknown threat. What began as a conflict over the origin of the asteroid strike and what to do with the afflicted had escalated into a world war that put the very survival of humanity in peril.

But it was them all along.

For decades they monitored us by sending scouts through our system. Scientists made up every excuse they could to explain the interstellar travelers as if they were natural events. Eventually, it wasn't even news anymore. They knew we would never consider an alien instigator. After all, we were the smartest lifeforms to exist.

The Earth government soon broke apart into the old familiar pieces as those with power tried to keep control or grab it back. The subsequent global hostilities gave rise to a robot revolution and shortly after that we stopped getting any Earth communications at all. Since then, all attempts to visit have been met with hostility from automated systems.

Our Mars colony almost unraveled at that point as well. Nobody wanted to accept the new reality that Earth was no longer there for us. What happened? Why are they suddenly hostile and isolated? Eventually, we had to move on and we did... Then the second strike happened. We were hit hard. Our complexes are mostly underground but that one lost the top few levels and everything on the surface. Blast debris analysis determined it to be of interstellar origin and the same unusual material that struck Earth. Faced with the possibility that we might be the last of humanity under attack by unknown alien forces, the colony pulled together to make sure we would not be beaten without a fight.

Early interstellar objects were called Oumuamua which means "scout". Now that we know they and we are not alone, we honor the ancient foresight and call them...
