Early Access Software

Get involved with this software as it develops.

Note: This Early Access software is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to use this software in its current state, then you should wait to see if it progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want customers to give feedback on features that they feel should be implemented. As well as what they do or do not like about the current build of the software. This helps us to ensure the software is what the players want it to be before it's fully released.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“We would like to do a full release by 5/28/2025. However, Depending on what early access players tell us through feedback we may find we have more work to do before full release than is currently realized.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to have more features and content, more game modes, and more language support. We plan on having a theme with characters and an arcade mode, however with your feedback the applications direction may change. Therefore we can't tell you for certain what this product will become.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We currently have three game modes for users to play. We are facing some challenging limitations by being an old school console application. However, we feel being a console application offers an easy to navigate flow, unlike searching through buttons and tabs with modern software which can take time to understand how to use. We want you to focus on memorizing your study material, not on navigating confusing UI.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not intend to change the price at this time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to hear what direction we should be focusing on with our improvements. If something is highly requested from early access players we will try to make it happen. Input from Early access players will help to turn this software into whatever it may become. You can contact us at or in the community tab of this store page, Thank you.”

About This Software

English Only! The software lists other languages at the start of the application, but these have not yet been fully programmed. The release date came up fast and I don't have the translations done for the other languages! I'm working on finishing this now! Also when you want to edit a deck you made you must open the save file .txt and edit it there. I can't figure out any way to make a better editing experience than the default Notepad editor on Windows.

AI Translations

I had AI do the translations temporarily. I only know English. Therefore, I don't know if the translations for the other languages are done well. If your languages translation is of poor quality please notify me and I will hire someone to redo the translation. The same AI did the translation for this store page. Expect the same quality translations in the software.

Welcome

Thank you for considering Retro Elimination Flashcards. We currently have three game modes for users to play.

1: Regular Flashcards (These show the hidden side of the card when you press Enter. You can type in a guess before revealing the answer. This is a great mode to use if you don't want to have to respond exactly as the hidden part of the card was written.)

2: Multiple Choice Elimination (This mode gives you four possible answers to choose from. Correct answers delete the card, while wrong answers restore a random card.)

3: Type Response Elimination (This is like mode 2 but you must completely answer from memory. Capital sensitivity can be turned on for an extra challenge.)

Flashcards cannot currently contain image, video, sound or any file type besides .txt. Flashcards support the following languages. (Windows has many different versions of the same language. These are the specific versions on the specific operating systems that have been tested and are confirmed to work.) This list will grow as support is confirmed.

All you need is basic typing installed on your computer for any of the following languages. At which point you can switch from language to language by holding Alt and pressing Shift. For example you could have one card side be English and the next side Spanish. Go to the language section of your computer in settings to download languages, but keep in mind that anything not listed here on the store page may not be compatible.

Windows 11:

English(United States) - English(United Kingdom) - Spanish(Latin America) - Spanish(Spain) - German(Germany) - German(Liechtenstein) - Italian(Italy) - Italian(Switzerland) - Polish - Norwegian(Nynorsk) - Norwegian(Bokmål) - Danish - Danish(Greenland) - Portuguese(Brazil) - Portuguese(Portugal)

Windows 10:

English(United States) - English(United Kingdom) - Spanish(Latin America) - Spanish(Spain) - German(Germany) - German(Liechtenstein) - Italian(Italy) - Italian(Switzerland) - Polish - Norwegian(Nynorsk) - Norwegian(Bokmål) - Danish - Danish(Greenland) - Portuguese(Brazil) - Portuguese(Portugal)

Remember: You can bring up the digital keyboard anytime by holding the Windows key + Cntrl + O. If using a language not on your physical keyboard this will help you see where the symbols and letters are located.

We also recommend that you leave the terminal in Consolas font for the time being. As this is a Console Application. The Windows terminal that launches console applications has some fonts that don't have language support. If you do change it and are having language compatibility issues we suggest going back to Consolas font. We may make our own fonts in the future but until then leave it as Consolas for the best user experience.

What is Retro Elimination Flashcards?

Retro Elimination Flashcards feels like something that should have been made a long time ago. With features like saving flashcards as text files so that you can make copies and keep them wherever you want such as on the desktop, on a flashdrive, or both! Making cards that have a follow up question after the question, or changing the colors of the text and background. These felt like they shouldn't be new and yet I couldn't find anything like it; so I decided I had to learn programming and make it myself. My goal was to make a flashcard software that can be customized to meet the needs of any user.

Description

You can choose Multiple Choice or Type response. By default you work on five cards from a deck at a time, but you can change this number to whatever you want in settings. If you get a card correct it deletes and a new card from the full deck goes into Cards in use, replacing it. If you get a card wrong it stays in Cards in use, and you can expect to see it again soon. Capital sensitivity can be turned on or off but is off by default.

The display side of the cards can be changed to back side. Cards can have a follow up question (Two part cards). Two part cards are only counted as correct if both parts are answered correctly. This software is customizable but by default correct answers delete the card and wrong answers restore a random card unless all cards are already in use. Card restoring can be turned off if unwanted by changing Minor Set Back to Off.

Minor set back can be changed to restore all cards or any number of cards but restores one card by default. Minor set back can be set to trigger after a certain number of wrong answers but is set to one by default. You can have many different customized settings saved at once, just load the save file and play!

Future Improvements

Estimated times for new content and other improvements. I will update these estimations if I get behind or ahead of them.

  • Language translations for menu navigation - Currently working on this as well as support for more languages with typing the flashcards.

  • Release of Firewall Defenders and Grow a Deck - 8/28/2025- This will be a large update that will make Retro Elimination Flashcards largely both Console Application and Windows Forms software. Firewall Defenders is going to be an arcade mode where you help Mauk the groundhog, and Micro the robot. You must work together to prevent Megro's goon from breaching the firewall and taking down the cities defenses. Grow a Deck will start you with a card from your deck and grow to the number of your choice. Each time you get a correct answer streak equal to the the amount of cards you currently have a new card is added. When you reach the number you had set at the start of the game, the deck you grew is deleted and more cards are pulled from the full deck.

  • Image, Video, and Sound being able to be in flashcards - 11/28/2025

  • Alt symbols on win 11  -  Alt symbols are not supported on windows 11. They seem to have dropped support for them on the new terminal. I will figure out a work around when all the other content is completed. Thank you

  • RPG Story mode - 8/28/2025- Explore a once beautiful world now controlled by the Yakura 7. Play as Mauk and Micro as they surface from under ground years after the aggressive expansion of the Yakura 7. Restore freedom and peace by outsmarting the enemy with your superior memorization abilities.
