What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

The Goal

Bully Ball Brigade is a couch party game with focus on simplicity and variability.

Simplicity

The game will contain mini games that are clearly understandable for any age groups. For this I'd like to hear from the community, what works and what doesn't so, I can plan future mini games tailored to the audience.

Variability

Mini games in party games are fun.. for a while. I'd like to keep players engaged with simple modifiers called "spices" that will spice up their experience and lead to unexpected scenarios.

Managing The Two Goals

It will be a challenge to keep both goals balanced and I need to engage with my audience to tackle this challenge together.

Expected release cycle

Mini game releases:
At least one minigame is expected to be published in half a year. My plan is to publish one each quarter.
Spice releases:
A mini game will be actively supported for new spices for at least a year. Each mini game will have at least 5 spices by the end of their "spice" support.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

Baseline

Based on the previously mentioned release cycles, the game will be released after
2 years with a minimum of 5 mini games, for which 3 will have at least 5 spices, and one will have some.

What can change?

During development, the shown release cycle will be used to ensure consistency for the players, but based on feedback, the early access may be extended, as the "final product" should have seemingly endless fun.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

Definition of done

I would call the game a success if the average player's party night ends with "it was a cool game, we should do this more often".

For this the game should have enough replayability with the simplicity in mind. This is expected to be achieved by the planning of the Early Access phase described above, if it doesn't work I'm okay to update my plans if it benefits the community.

Expected features:

  • 5+ mini games
  • 10+ spices total

Extra features under consideration:

  • Online play without Remote Play Together
  • Better steam integration (easier lobby handling, achievements)

Would be nice:

  • Workshop to create custom spices
  • Workshop to create custom mini games

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently features 1 mini game with 0 spices. The core look and feel of the game represents the idea I have for future games, while it provides enough fun if you are hosting a couch party, this is already a must have.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually increase the price every 2-3 minigames included in the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Bully Ball Brigade is a party game, my community is a big lobby waiting to enter this party. My goal is to make this party memorable for everyone, so everyone's opinion matters.

I will provide clear short and mid-term goals, and I am open for discussions based on feedback. Please reach out on our discord, this forum or to the support email address ().”

About This Game

About

Bully Ball Brigade is a compact party game for 2-4 players, currently hosting one mini game:

Mini Game: Tug of War

One player is pushing against the rest of the players and needs to survive as long as they can. The round is won by the player who lasts the longest.

Why just one?

The game is in early access, the goal is to have at least 5 published mini games by release time, but trust me, I'm very happy with my decision to showcase "Tug of War" as the first in the series.
