About This Demo

The Fool's Apprentice is a magic school simulator that puts you in the position of Arcanist Tharn, a mage from a prestigious family by the same name. As this accomplished wizard, you will shepherd your many woefully unskilled apprentices towards a modicum of knowledge... by ensuring they cannot possibly step outside the bounds of proper curriculum. Levitate them, toss them around, control their minds or wipe them, and even throw them into portals to other worlds!

The good ones will survive, surely; the bad? There are always bad apples in every class, no? What can the professor do?

Plot the future of magic at the helm of your Conservatory, through the following tools:

  • Enroll new apprentices under your tutelage, managing their skills, directing their studies with spells, and steering them away from an accidental demise!

  • Upgrade magical workstations and unlock new sciences!

  • Respond to Dilemmas, as the choices you make for your Arcane Conservatory shape the future of mankind in this new age of magic & science!

  • Kidnap citizens for experimentation.

  • Earn the love of the public for the wonderous scientific advancements brought to the sun-kissed canal city of Golryon! But be careful, withholding every bit of magic from them might lead the public to riot!

In the Demo:

  • Five of seven arcanoscientific skills are available for the apprentices of the Arcane Conservatory.

  • A limited pool of apprentice traits, and a single type of apprentices can spawn.

  • The Conservatory begins in the Main Hall and Observatory, and can be expanded with the Grand Library & Advance Artifice rooms. A future version of the demo will add the Portalsmithing Chamber.

  • Permanent Research is not available, and savegames are limited.

In the Full Game:

  • All seven skills, the full list of apprentice traits, Research, and savegame features are enabled.

  • The Conservatory expands with the Commonroom Study, the Portalsmithing Chamber, Experimental Arcanoscience, and the Artefact Storage rooms. Each can be unlocked much more rapidly, but have greater consequences!

  • Three difficulty modes; with default being extended with Easy Mode, allowing an infinite game without lost progress due to the destruction of the Conservatory, and new features to disallow exponential growth; and Convergence Mode, where Instability is higher, all Research is lost on Conservatory destruction, costs are higher, allowing for a test for true Arcanists!

  • Triple the number of Stations.

  • Dozens of additional events and dilemmas.

The Fool's Apprentice returns to The Planar Danse once again, the connected universe of Apollyon, Skulltide, and Spirit's Almanac, the previous games and novel set within the same world. It is endlessly replayable, but all unlocks can be unlocked in ~8 hours of play.

Build the future of magic, today!
