What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our core gameplay is settled, along with the key features, art style and theme. We hope to use the Early Access phase of development to engage the community and allow that to drive new ideas, features, and direction the game takes.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expected at least a year, but it maybe go a few months longer than if we get a lot of community engagement we receive”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want to build on the core gameplay features we have developed in collaboration with our community. With the help of early access player feedback, we will add lots more modifications that will feed into each player run. We will significantly expand the number of levels, enemies and environmental events to tell the story of the Service Guy’s epic decent into the depth of Mars. We will also expand the meta gameplay, including adding unlockables that will feed back into the playthrough experience. Additionally, we also know that balancing will be a continual challenge and we expect the tuning of everything, from weapons to attachment modifications, and even enemies to shift over time. Finally, we expect our modding tools will expand according to our community’s wants and needs. We feel we’ve made a really robust start but we are keen to listen to what sort of tools will enable the creative community to flourish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our core gameplay is settled, along with the key features, art style and theme. The player can begin their adventure down into the depths of Mars with our first character, Service Guy. We have the first three levels available, including a first level boss battle, which are in an alpha state. In each run, the player will be able to continuously upgrade weapons with randomly generated attachments, being able to skilfully craft a set of weapons capable of inflicting and exploiting the Inflamed, Poisoned and Trauma statuses on their enemies.
Additionally, we have a robust modding system that is ready to go for our community. We want the game to have a strong creative ecosystem and we’re provided the tools for players to start getting creative immediately.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will not change when we leave early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are looking to have early engagement with our community from the get-go. The nature of the attachment and modification system means that it will be invaluable for us to balance and expand the game with their support. We want to get a sense of what combinations of modifications and attachments are exciting to play and which ones just doesn’t work. We’re keen to understand how the pacing and difficult of each level feels to our players and iterate based on your feedback.
Finally, we’ve put a lot of effort into our modding tools and we’re excited to see what our community will make of them and with them! We’re keen to hear what’s easy to use, what other modding functionality would be desirable and help nurture the creative side of the community!”

About This Game

Embrace the chaos…

Battle aliens, shoot guns and, above all else, survive to work another day in Crimson Crisis, an action-roguelite set in a post-apocalyptic universe.

Persistence Is Key

Each playthrough of Crimson Crisis is unique due to an almost infinite pool of potential player builds. The journey stays the same but your route through them changes with each new run.

Discover how different elements of your arsenal and the status system sync as you battle in epic set pieces, traveling deeper and deeper into the Martian landscape

Terraforming, on a Budget

Working as a nameless face at the bottom of the ladder, you work at possibly the most budget-friendly terraforming company in existence, New Earth Landscaping, Inc. After receiving a request for a callout on Mars, you suddenly find your ship out of control and careering towards the surface.

One catastrophic crash later, work must go on and it’s up to you to discover the source of the danger threatening Mars’ core. Sounds easy enough… Right?

Bullet Heaven

Collect new weapons, expand your abilities and build the perfect arsenal to reach true bullet
heaven. You’ll need to if you stand any kind of chance of taking on the multifarious Martian horde hellbent on destroying you. Maximize your offensive capabilities with randomly generated item attachments, which can change and intertwine with devastating status effects.

Everything, from your antizeno repulsor shield through to nano utility spiders and zenocide projectors, can be upgraded and modified. It’s
up to you to find out what works best for your style of play.

What’s Your Status?

Take advantage of the destructive status effects within the game, including Inflamed, Poisoned and Traumatised, which increase your offensive abilities in battle.
Each status has unique properties and behaviours that can shift the tide of battle.

Inflamed - Burn your enemies with the inflamed effect. Inflict the status effect long enough to trigger fiery explosions that can spread to others.

Poisoned - Cause damage to your enemies over time with poison. Poison spreads to others close by, making them more susceptible to gunfire and other forms of damage.

Traumatized - Sometimes fear is the best weapon of all. Inflict the traumatized effect on enemies to make them more susceptible to critical hits. Instill enough fear in them and they’ll flee the battle, sparking similar reactions from those close by.

I’m Doing My Part

Fight alongside your friends with Crimson Crisis’ couch co-op mode. Double the weapons, double the action and double the danger. A simple drop in and out feature makes it easy for anyone to join the chaos.

Community-Driven Destruction

Expand your experience and cause even more destruction with mods. Crimson Crisis will support community-created mods from launch, allowing you to further add to your arsenal in the fight against the ferocious Martian horde.
